Family Services Coordinator (Overnight/Morning Shift)
Location: Ronald McDonald House of Dallas (RMHD)
Reports To: Senior Family Services Manager
Work Hours: 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. Required to be awake and on the premises.
Position Summary
Ronald McDonald House of Dallas is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and service-oriented Family Services Coordinator to help provide a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for families with seriously ill or injured children receiving medical care.
In this role, you will oversee front desk operations, support families during their stay, help maintain the facility, coordinate volunteer activities, and respond to the day-to-day needs of the House. The ideal candidate enjoys helping others, remains calm under pressure, and is committed to providing exceptional hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Family Services
- Welcome and assist families with warmth, compassion, and professionalism.
- Explain House policies, procedures, and eligibility requirements.
- Provide support and assistance to families throughout their stay.
- Communicate family concerns to the Senior Family Services Manager or Chief Operating Officer, as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate shift notes and communicate important information to incoming staff.
Operations
- Ensure front desk coverage throughout the shift or remain available by phone.
- Coordinate smooth shift transitions with staff, security, and volunteers.
- Prepare and restock the breakfast area and coordinate volunteer breakfast groups.
- Complete laundry duties, including washing, drying, folding, and restocking linens.
- Maintain supplies needed for daily operations.
Facility Support
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
- Conduct routine security checks throughout the facility.
- Monitor security cameras and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Ensure doors are secure and the building remains safe.
- Maintain the front desk, lobby, and common areas.
- Follow all emergency preparedness and safety procedures.
Volunteer & Community Support
- Coordinate with volunteer breakfast groups and communicate special needs.
- Prepare meeting spaces for Board and community events.
- Support positive relationships with volunteers, Board members, and community partners.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree preferred.
- Customer service, hospitality, healthcare, nonprofit, or family services experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable using computers and standard office software.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during emergencies and sensitive situations.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly stand, walk, sit, reach, bend, and use hands to perform job duties.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to perform routine facility inspections and move throughout the House during the shift.
- Must have sufficient vision and hearing to safely perform the essential functions of the position.
